Favourite Thing: My favourite thing is learning something new and sharing it with people. This doesn’t just mean my research. It could be a great science paper I read, an article in a magazine or a new way of looking at something that I had taken for granted. Oh, and the masses of travelling isn’t bad either!
What I do: Trying to understand the birth of the visible Universe using the tiniest things in Nature and the biggest experiments on Earth.

Favourite Thing: I love colour – in particular the “Barking Dog” reaction, or any spectacular ‘flame tests’ of metal salts!
What I do: I use lasers to pick up and move microscopic objects such as cells – by not touching them, we don’t damage them!
