• Question: How would your 'thing' help the public, and how long would it be 'till we see the results? Thanks x

It would be a show that is free for all to attend. It would allow anyone to learn about particle physics and the early Universe, a subject not usually covered in public media or museums. Above all it will be fun!

We have plans already to put the first one on in Manchester in September-October and will then be looking for other venues around the country after that.

Through my research I am discovering more about how to motivate and help people stick to their weight loss goals. Through this I am learning ways in which to enable people to live happier and healthier lives. At the moment im looking at subliminal priming-which is basically how you get people to do things without them being aware of it-as advertising(form of subliminal priming) can influence what we eat, im seeing if i can use it in the opposite direction can we sublimminally get people to loose weight! With my type of research the results are instant-however its the maintenance of these results that is the key to successful long term weight loss. Therefore for the final year of my study i am going to run an intervention programme which teaches people how to maintain motivation, resist temptation and how to achieve their goals. Hopefully this will lead to widespread implementation of these programmes witch in time could potentially have a substantial impact on obesity. Its the potential ability to be able to help someone(even if its only a single person that my research helps) that makes me passionate about my research!
