I’ve made reference to this situation before but it was truely what inspired me, a couple of years ago i worked in a clinic with morbidly obese people, helping them loose weight through psychological intervention, counselling, diet and exercise. Before I left one of my clients(who had been massively successful at weight loss during the programme) came up to me and said that i had given her back her life. That is what inspired me to stay within obesity research if i only have the opportunity to help one more person like that in my career then it will be worth it!

Good question! A lot of what inspires me is the people I work with – we all have ideas, we all combine them in different ways, and sometimes amazing things come out of it. Ideas come from almost anywhere and anywhere, and it’s important to make a note of the ideas as and when they occur, because you might not remember them!

Hi. I think the fact that I work on a disease that affects so many people and affects them in devastating ways inspires me to continue with my work and research. It’s nice to work in an area where you feel like you may be able to make a direct and important difference to peoples lives. Apart from that, I love science and I love finding thing out about the human body or viruses that weren’t known beforehand and that keeps me going.
