Freedom. I get to do the science I enjoy, wear what I want to work, make up my own hours and work remotely. Plus I also travel lots with work, which is great fun.

And you can never ignore that moment when something you have though of works and is used and referenced by others, you feel really smug and important.

I think that the best thing is the freedom I have. I plan my day, its not a normal 9-5. SOme days are long, but some short so it balances out. Don’t think I’d be much good in a more organised, strict environement. I also like that I get to play aroud with DNA and chemicals all day and make new viruses, I find that interesting and quite creative.

The thing i like best about my job is that it enables me to help people. By learning about why people overeat, give in to temptation and avoid exercise I can work towards ways in which to counteract the obsicles to health and thus have the opportunity to change peoples lives.
I also like the fact that the flexible hours allow me to have plenty of tea breaks with the girls and the fact that i can have the footie and the tennis on while I work-cheeky!! 😉

I really like the freedom to propose questions and to then go back and find the answers. The freedom to design experiments and just ‘try things out’ to see if they work. I also love the fact that I can lose myself in my work, and that I don’t get up in the morning wishing I didn’t have to go to work.
