      Reflux means “flowing back” and a condenser is a device that converts vapour into liquid – this means a “reflux condenser” is a device that converts vapour into liquid, and allows the liquid to flow back into the boiling reservoir.

      You use it to keep solvent from escaping from a boiling reaction and to stop the reaction vessel from drying out.
