Hi Harley, I wasnt by any means a science genuis at school but I really enjoyed it and thats whats important. If your entusiastic about a subject it doesnt seem like work anymore and studing it isnt a chore. My favourite of the sciences was biology. Its facinating seeing biology come to life be it growing bacteria in agar or understanding photosynthesis or locating body parts on a skeleton. I feel its one of those subjects which really is applicable to real life and teaches us so much about the bodies and the world we live in.
I was really good at both Chemistry and Physics (and was given the nickname of “McPhysics”) and was also good at Biology. I enjoyed biology less, so perhaps didn’t work as hard at it. Physics came naturally to me, as did Chemistry, but it was Chemistry that I really looked forward to, that I really enjoyed. I think it was my teacher that made Chemistry come alive for me and inspired me to study Chemistry at University.
I’m not sure I exceeded at any science really, I just found Biology really interesting as I could apply it to things I saw around me (my body, plants etc) so I wanted to learn more about it. Thats why I took it at A level then did a degree in it.
I did best in Physics, but I don’t think I can say I exceeded in it – my best GCSEs were Drama and Design & Technology. I put more effort into physics as I found it fun because the more you learned the bigger and better the science got.
I did chemistry and biology at A level, and got the same grade for both. I always had to do more work in chemistry though, so am probably better at biology!
